DOMPurify, prior to version 3.4.17, is exposed to a cross-site scripting vulnerability where event handlers can be improperly retained when an IN_PLACE hook removes related DOM nodes. This flaw allows attacker-controlled markup within isolated subtrees to possibly execute after the sanitize() function has completed, leading to the execution of DOM XSS attacks.
