What is CVE-2026-116874?

The SemanticMediaWiki is susceptible to a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that affects installations from version 3.1.0 up to, but not including, 7.3.1. This vulnerability arises due to the unescaped default parameter in the JsonResultPrinter component. Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this weakness by crafting malicious Special:Ask links featuring zero-result queries and a specific request_type=special_page, which may result in the execution of unauthorized JavaScript in the context of the wiki's origin. Through this attack vector, adversaries can potentially hijack user sessions and obtain CSRF tokens, posing significant risks to the security of users interacting with the affected SemanticMediaWiki installations.

Affected Version(s)
