CVE Published:

What is CVE-2026-118636?

The JavaNativeMessageDecoder in the Apache MINA 3.0 codec module is susceptible to a serious vulnerability. The module utilizes ObjectInputStream.readObject() on incoming frame bytes without proper class filtering. This oversight allows an application positioned in front of an untrusted peer to be exploited, potentially leading to remote code execution through gadget chains. As the 3.0.0 branch of Apache MINA is no longer actively maintained, users are strongly advised to transition to the more secure Apache MINA 2.2.X branch to mitigate this risk.

Affected Version(s)

Apache MINA 3.0.0 <= 3.0.0-M2
