What is CVE-2026-120684?

A memory-initialization flaw in the legacy GridFS file handling of the MongoDB C Driver poses a significant risk, allowing uninitialized process memory to be misconstrued as valid file content. This vulnerability permits a database user with standard write access to manipulate conditions such that an application may inadvertently append sensitive information to a file. The compromised data could include credentials, which can then be read by the same user, potentially leading to unauthorized access to sensitive data stored within the application's process.

Affected Version(s)

C Driver 1.25.0 <= 1.30.14

C Driver 2.0.0 <= 2.5.7
