What is CVE-2026-121401?

The FreeRDP software prior to version 3.32.2 is vulnerable to a denial of service attack due to improper handling of extended authentication messages by the RD Gateway. Specifically, the vulnerability arises when the 'rdg_process_packet' function processes a PKT_TYPE_EXTENDED_AUTH_MSG without verifying the negotiated mode or authentication context. This flaw allows a malicious actor to send an unauthorized extended-auth packet before tunnel authentication is completed, leading to a potential null-pointer dereference and causing the client application to crash.
