What is CVE-2026-121955?

FreeRDP versions prior to 3.32.2 are susceptible to a use-after-free vulnerability in the Emulate_SCardReleaseContext function. This flaw arises when the emulated SCardContext is freed before its associated worker thread has been properly cancelled and joined. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious ESTABLISHCONTEXT request, followed by a long-timeout GETSTATUSCHANGE, and finally a RELEASECONTEXT smartcard I/O control request (IRP). Such exploitation can lead to memory corruption or crash clients utilizing smartcard emulation, potentially compromising system stability and data integrity.
