What is CVE-2026-123998?
The Hisense VIDAA Smart TV firmware exhibits an authentication bypass vulnerability within its remote-control MQTT broker on TCP port 36669. This flaw allows attackers to exploit default credentials and an inadequate 4-digit pairing PIN that lacks rate limiting or lockout features. Consequently, an attacker on the same LAN can perform a brute-force attack within seconds, while certain actions are accessible without any pairing. This vulnerability permits unauthorized users to manipulate key functions such as adjusting volume, changing inputs, launching installed applications, and monitoring pairing activity. This poses a considerable security risk, especially in environments like hotels where untrusted network access is prevalent.
Affected Version(s)
VIDAA 0000.01.00a.P0220
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
