What is CVE-2026-12411?

A broken access control vulnerability in the devLXDInstancePatchHandler component of Canonical LXD enables an untrusted guest to exploit security settings. When security.devlxd.management.volumes is enabled, an attacker can mount, read, and overwrite another guest's custom storage volume through a malicious device PATCH request sent over /dev/lxd. This flaw poses a significant risk to guest isolation and storage management within LXD containers.
