What is CVE-2026-124490?

OpenEMR prior to version 8.3.0 is susceptible to a path traversal vulnerability in the disposeDocument() method of the RingCentral RCFaxClient within the oe-module-faxsms. This flaw enables authenticated attackers to manipulate the file_path parameter, allowing them to read sensitive files, including credentials and source code, or to upload and execute arbitrary files. Utilizing the action=download option provides access to confidential information, while action=setup with base64 content allows for the creation of web-executable files that can compromise the integrity of the affected system.
