What is CVE-2026-14672?

A vulnerability in PostgreSQL's SCRAM authentication mechanism could allow an unauthenticated user to exploit discrepancies in the response time, enabling them to check for the existence of specific users. This occurs when the affected user has a non-default SCRAM iteration count, leading to different response times compared to non-existent users who would respond with default settings. Major versions 16 to 18, and specific minor versions before PostgreSQL 18.5, 17.11, and 16.15 are impacted, while earlier versions remain secure.
