What is CVE-2026-18839?

An integer underflow has been identified in the Popt library, particularly when handling the formatting of help text for option tables that exceed the terminal's width. This flaw allows a local user to manipulate an application into displaying help under these conditions. As a result, it may cause the application to crash or fail in presenting the help information, potentially leading to a denial of service for the affected software.
