What is CVE-2026-19783?

The vulnerability in IBM AIX versions 7.2 and 7.3, along with IBM PowerVM VIOS 4.1, allows local attackers to exploit insufficient validation during directory reads. By crafting a malicious filesystem image, attackers can perform an out-of-bounds write to the kernel stack, which may lead to a system crash or enable unauthorized privilege escalation.
