What is CVE-2026-20042?

A vulnerability in the configuration backup feature of Cisco Nexus Dashboard allows unauthorized access to sensitive information. This occurs because authentication details are embedded in the encrypted backup files. An attacker with the valid encryption password and access to these files can decrypt the backup. Once decrypted, they could exploit the authentication details to gain access to internal APIs, ultimately leading to unauthorized command execution at the root level of the operating system.
