What is CVE-2026-20054?

A vulnerability exists in Cisco's Snort 3 Detection Engine related to improper error handling during the decompression of VBA data. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this weakness by sending specially crafted VBA data to the engine, leading to a potential infinite loop scenario. This could render the Snort 3 Detection Engine unresponsive, effectively causing a Denial of Service (DoS) on the targeted device, thus impacting its ability to perform network security functions.
