What is CVE-2026-20164?

In Splunk Enterprise and Cloud Platform, a flaw exists in certain versions that allows a low-privileged user to access sensitive endpoints. Specifically, users without 'admin' or 'power' roles can retrieve hashed or plaintext password values stored in the passwords.conf configuration file via the REST API. This access control weakness poses risks for unauthorized disclosure of sensitive credentials, potentially compromising the security of systems relying on these products.
