What is CVE-2026-20174?

A vulnerability in the Metadata update feature of Cisco Nexus Dashboard Insights allows an authenticated remote attacker to upload crafted metadata update files. This exploit can lead to an unauthorized write of arbitrary files to the affected system’s operating system with root privileges. The issue arises from insufficient validation of the uploaded metadata file. Unfortunately, the manual upload capability, while common in Air-Gap environments, exists for both Air-Gap and Cisco Intersight Cloud connected devices, raising significant security concerns for organizations relying on these platforms.
