What is CVE-2026-21914?

An Improper Locking vulnerability in the GTP plugin of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series can be exploited by an unauthenticated, network-based attacker. This vulnerability arises when a specifically malformed GPRS Tunnelling Protocol (GTP) Modify Bearer Request message is received, leading to an unacquired lock that blocks other threads from functioning correctly. Consequently, this results in a complete traffic outage due to a watchdog timeout that causes an FPC crash and requires a restart. Affected devices may automatically recover, but not without resulting in service disruptions.
