What is CVE-2026-22261?

Suricata, the network Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), has a vulnerability related to the handling of 'xff' (X-Forwarded-For) headers. Prior to versions 8.0.3 and 7.0.14, improper processing of alerts not triggered during a transaction can lead to considerable slowdowns in network performance. To mitigate this issue, users can disable XFF support in the eve configuration, as this setting is disabled by default in newer releases.
