Integer Overflow Vulnerability in GIMP's ICO File Processing
CVE-2026-2272
4.3MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-2272?
An integer overflow vulnerability in GIMP occurs when processing ICO image files, specifically within the ico_read_info and ico_read_icon functions. This flaw stems from an improper size calculation for image buffers, which can allow oversized image headers to bypass necessary security checks. By crafting a malicious ICO file, a remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability, leading to conditions that may result in a buffer overflow and subsequent memory corruption, ultimately affecting the application's stability.
