What is CVE-2026-22854?

FreeRDP, an open-source implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol, is vulnerable to a heap buffer overflow prior to version 3.20.1. This vulnerability allows an attacker to manipulate the server-controlled read length when processing drive reads, resulting in an oversized read that can overwrite critical heap memory. This exploitation scenario could potentially lead to arbitrary code execution or unstable behavior of the application. Users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to version 3.20.1 or later to mitigate this risk. Further details can be found in the official advisories.
