What is CVE-2026-23013?

A vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel related to the Octeon EP VF, where improper handling of IRQ requests can lead to inconsistent dev_id values during the IRQ rollback process. If the request_irq() operation fails, the subsequent cleanup incorrectly frees IRQs with a mismatched dev_id, potentially causing IRQ handlers to remain active after their associated resources have been released. This situation can result in a use-after-free condition or a system crash when an interrupt is generated, highlighting the critical importance of correct resource management in driver implementations.
