What is CVE-2026-23090?

A vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel affecting Slimbus devices, which can lead to a device reference leak during the handling of report-present messages. When a report-present message is received, Slimbus devices may be dynamically allocated without properly releasing previously taken references on already registered devices. This oversight requires extra care to ensure that any new device allocations are managed appropriately if not already registered, thereby reducing the chances of resource leakage and potential security issues.
