What is CVE-2026-23096?

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to the cdev (character device) management has been identified. When the function cdev_device_add fails, it inadvertently releases the cdev memory. If cdev_device_del is then called, it can lead to a system hang. The resolution involves checking the return value of cdev_device_add and ensuring that uacce->cdev is cleared, thereby preventing the execution of cdev_device_del during the uacce removal process.
