What is CVE-2026-23110?

A race condition exists in the SCSI layer of the Linux kernel which prevents proper waking of the error handler. This issue arises due to fragile ordering between the completion states of commands, potentially leaving I/O processes in a stuck state when the error state cannot progress. Specifically, the memory ordering issues in functions such as scsi_dec_host_busy() and scsi_eh_inc_host_failed() result in missed signaling of the error handler. Implementing memory barriers and adjusting the ordering of operations can mitigate this vulnerability.
