Memory Leak in Linux Kernel's NVMe/FC Controller Handling
CVE-2026-23261
What is CVE-2026-23261?
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NVMe/FC controller handling allows for memory leaks when the controller setup fails. In instances where the controller state changes or connect work scheduling encounters errors after initial creation, the allocated admin blk-mq resources are not released correctly. This oversight can lead to unfreed resources, potentially impacting system performance and stability. By properly managing the allocations during the failure conditions, including the necessary checks to release allocated resources, the system can avoid unnecessary memory waste and maintain optimal operation.
