What is CVE-2026-23267?

A vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's F2FS (Flash-Friendly File System) where an inconsistency in the IS_CHECKPOINTED flag can arise during concurrent atomic commit and checkpoint writes. This issue manifests specifically during atomic write scenarios, leading to erroneous behavior such as returning an -EINVAL error when mounting the F2FS. The problematic interaction occurs when one thread commits an atomic write while another thread attempts to write a checkpoint, resulting in the IS_CHECKPOINTED flag not being properly set. Consequently, this may cause the system to misinterpret file states post-reboot, potentially leading to data integrity issues.
