What is CVE-2026-23277?

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to TEQL (Transmit Early Queue Length) occurs when transmitting data through slave devices. A NULL pointer dereference can result from improper handling of skb->dev, leading to a page fault during packet transmission. This issue arises when a gretap tunnel, configured as a TEQL slave, fails to correctly set the skb->dev without updating it to reference the slave device before initiating the transmission. As a result, the core network stack may encounter an attempt to access NULL memory, triggering a critical error in kernel mode. The resolution involves ensuring proper device association prior to transmission invocation, safeguarding against unexpected kernel crashes.
