What is CVE-2026-23531?

The FreeRDP implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol contains a vulnerability where processed glyphData may lead to a heap buffer overflow. In versions prior to 3.21.0, the clear_decompress function fails to validate the destination rectangle during certain RDPGFX surface updates. This oversight allows an attacker controlling a malicious server to initiate a client-side attack, potentially resulting in a crash and leading to serious data corruption risks. The newly released version 3.21.0 addresses this issue by implementing necessary patches to enhance security.
