What is CVE-2026-23697?

Vtiger CRM versions prior to 8.4.0 are subject to an authenticated file upload vulnerability that allows low-privileged users to perform remote code execution. This is achieved by uploading a .phar file containing malicious PHP code through the Documents module, circumventing the configured denylist in config.inc.php, which fails to restrict the .phar extension. The uploaded file retains its .phar extension and is stored in a web-accessible directory, where misconfigured .htaccess files in Apache 2.4 deployments do not restrict access, allowing unauthorized HTTP requests to execute the PHP payload.

Affected Version(s)

Vtiger CRM 0 <= 8.3.0

Vtiger CRM 0 <= 8.3.0

Vtiger CRM 8.4.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
