What is CVE-2026-23947?

Orval, a tool for generating type-safe JavaScript clients from OpenAPI specifications, has a vulnerability affecting versions 7.10.0 to 8.0.2, allowing arbitrary code execution. This flaw arises from inadequate handling of untrusted OpenAPI specifications, specifically through the x-enumDescriptions field, which permits the injection of unescaped TypeScript/JavaScript code into generated clients. This vulnerability impacts the const enum generation process, resulting in potentially executable code embedded in the generated schema files. A fix is available in Orval version 8.0.2.

Affected Version(s)

orval >= 8.0.0-rc.0, < 8.0.2 < 8.0.0-rc.0, 8.0.2

orval < 7.19.0 < 7.19.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
