Improper Access Control in Horilla HRMS by Horilla Open Source
CVE-2026-24039
What is CVE-2026-24039?
Horilla HRMS version 1.4.0 contains a vulnerability due to improper access control that allows low-privileged employees to self-approve documents they have uploaded. This flaw results from an insufficient server-side authorization check at the approval endpoint, which is meant to be secured for administrators or higher-privilege roles. As a consequence, standard employees can change the approval status of their documents, compromising the integrity of HR processes and potentially allowing the submission of unverified accreditation and materials. The issue was addressed and rectified in version 1.5.0.
