Denial of Service Vulnerability in ImageMagick by ImageMagick
CVE-2026-24485
What is CVE-2026-24485?
Prior to the release of versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40, ImageMagick was susceptible to a Denial of Service vulnerability triggered by improperly formatted PCD files. The DecodeImage() function would enter an infinite loop when a valid Sync marker is missing, leading to significant CPU resource consumption and ultimately causing the application to become unresponsive. This condition could be exploited to exhaust system resources, resulting in service interruptions and degraded performance for users relying on ImageMagick for image processing. Users are advised to upgrade to the latest patched versions to mitigate this risk.
