Path Traversal Vulnerability in Python-Multipart by Kludex
CVE-2026-24486
What is CVE-2026-24486?
A Path Traversal vulnerability is present in Python-Multipart prior to version 0.0.22, affecting applications that use specific configurations for file uploads. By exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker can craft a malicious filename to upload files to arbitrary locations on the server’s filesystem. This flaw arises when the non-default configuration options UPLOAD_DIR and UPLOAD_KEEP_FILENAME=True are utilized. To mitigate this vulnerability, users are advised to upgrade to version 0.0.22. As an alternative, disabling the UPLOAD_KEEP_FILENAME=True option in project settings can help reduce exposure.
