What is CVE-2026-24688?

An infinite loop vulnerability exists in the pypdf library for Python, affecting versions prior to 6.6.2. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by crafting a specially designed PDF file that triggers an infinite loop when accessing outlines or bookmarks. This can lead to unresponsive behavior in applications utilizing the library. Users are advised to upgrade to pypdf version 6.6.2 or later to mitigate this risk, or alternatively, apply the relevant changes from the GitHub pull request #3610 manually if an immediate upgrade is not feasible.
