OpenProject Web-Based Project Management Software Vulnerability
CVE-2026-24772
What is CVE-2026-24772?
OpenProject, a widely-used web-based project management software, introduced a synchronization server in version 17.0. This synchronization mechanism creates an authentication token valid for 24 hours, which is encrypted and shared between the frontend and the sync server. However, the synchronization server fails to validate the backend URL correctly, allowing potential attackers to intercept the encrypted token. If successful, they could decrypt this token through various means, gaining unauthorized access to OpenProject on behalf of the victim. This vulnerability was mitigated in version 17.0.2, and users are advised to disable the collaboration feature in the settings as a precaution.
