What is CVE-2026-25067?

SmarterMail, developed by SmarterTools, contains a vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to exploit the background-of-the-day preview endpoint. By inputting specially crafted data, attackers can manipulate file system paths as the application decodes the input without proper validation. On Windows platforms, this vulnerability can trigger outbound Server Message Block (SMB) authentication attempts towards maliciously controlled hosts, facilitating a range of attacks including credential coercion and NTLM relay.
