What is CVE-2026-25497?

Craft CMS versions from 4.0.0-RC1 to before 4.17.0-beta.1 and 5.9.0-beta.1 exhibit a vulnerability in their GraphQL API that permits an authenticated user with write access to one asset volume to escalate their privileges. This flaw enables such users to modify or transfer assets from other volumes, including restricted or private ones. The vulnerability arises from inadequate authorization checks in the saveAsset GraphQL mutation, which fails to ensure the targeted asset belongs to the user's authorized volume. As a result, this oversight may lead to unauthorized cross-volume asset manipulation. Users are encouraged to update to the patched versions 4.17.0-beta.1 or 5.9.0-beta.1 to mitigate this risk.
