What is CVE-2026-25643?

Frigate, a network video recorder, has a significant Remote Command Execution vulnerability present in versions before 0.16.4. This flaw arises from inadequate sanitization of user input in the video stream configuration file, config.yaml. As a result, attackers can inject system commands via the exec: directive. The go2rtc service processes these commands without any restrictions, creating a pathway for unauthorized control. This vulnerability primarily affects installations exposed to the internet without proper authentication, allowing any remote user administrative access to the Frigate system. The issue has been resolved in version 0.16.4.

Affected Version(s)

frigate < 0.16.4

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
