What is CVE-2026-25722?

Claude Code, an advanced coding tool, is affected by a directory traversal vulnerability that allows unauthorized access to sensitive directories. Prior to version 2.0.57, the application did not adequately validate directory changes, enabling malicious actors to leverage the 'cd' command and navigate into protected directories like '.claude'. This flaw could allow users to bypass write protection, creating or modifying files without the necessary user confirmation. The exploit could be reliably executed if an attacker had the capability to introduce untrusted content into a Claude Code context window. The issue has been subsequently resolved in version 2.0.57.
