What is CVE-2026-26271?

A buffer overread vulnerability exists in FreeRDP, a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol, affecting versions prior to 3.23.0. This issue arises from a flaw in the freerdp_image_copy_from_icon_data() function, where manipulated RDP Window Icon (TS_ICON_INFO) data can be exploited. The vulnerability may be triggered over a network connection when a client processes malicious icon data received from an RDP server or through a man-in-the-middle attack. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 3.23.0 of FreeRDP.
