Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Discourse Discussion Platform
CVE-2026-27154
What is CVE-2026-27154?
A vulnerability in the Discourse discussion platform allows user full names to be processed as raw HTML, potentially leading to Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks. This occurs when the settings 'display_name_on_posts' is enabled and 'prioritize_username_in_ux' is disabled. Malicious users can exploit this issue by editing their posts, enabling the execution of malicious scripts in the browsers of users who view the post. To mitigate the risk, updating to versions 2025.12.2, 2026.1.1, or 2026.2.0 is essential, as these versions contain the necessary patches.
