Remote Code Execution Risk in n8n Workflow Automation Platform
CVE-2026-27498
What is CVE-2026-27498?
n8n, an open-source workflow automation platform, has a vulnerability that allows an authenticated user with proper permissions to exploit the Read/Write Files from Disk node in conjunction with git operations. This combination could lead to remote code execution on the host system. By modifying certain configuration files and executing git commands, an attacker could gain the capability to run arbitrary shell commands. To mitigate the risk, users are advised to upgrade to n8n versions 2.2.0 or 1.123.8. As a temporary measure, it's recommended to restrict workflow permissions to trusted users and consider disabling the Read/Write Files from Disk node.
