What is CVE-2026-27829?

In the Astro web framework, versions 9.0.0 through 9.5.3 contain a vulnerability in the image pipeline that allows attackers to bypass configured domain restrictions. This occurs when the 'inferSize' option is utilized, permitting image fetching from unauthorized remote hosts, regardless of developer permissions set through 'image.domains' or 'image.remotePatterns'. Consequently, an attacker capable of influencing image URLs can exploit this flaw, leading to potential server-side request forgery (SSRF) attacks against internal services and cloud metadata endpoints. The issue has been rectified in Astro version 9.5.4.
