What is CVE-2026-27836?

The phpMyFAQ application, an open-source FAQ management system, contains a vulnerability where the WebAuthn prepare endpoint allows unauthorized users to create new active accounts without any authentication mechanisms, CSRF protection, or CAPTCHA. This issue can be exploited even when user registration is turned off, enabling attackers to create an unlimited number of accounts. Version 4.0.18 addresses and resolves this significant security flaw.
