What is CVE-2026-28219?

Discourse, an open-source discussion platform, suffers from a vulnerability in its topic management functionality that allows authenticated users to manipulate specific parameters in PUT or POST requests. This exploitation can lead to unauthorized modifications of privileged topic attributes, including the elevation of topics to site-wide notices or banners, circumventing the platform's intended administrative controls. Administrators are encouraged to review recent changes to banners and notices in their systems, as there are no practical workarounds apart from implementing the necessary security patches available in versions 2025.12.2, 2026.1.1, and 2026.2.0.
