Deserialization Vulnerability in Wazuh Affects Cluster API Functionality
CVE-2026-28220
8.4HIGH
What is CVE-2026-28220?
Wazuh, a free and open-source security platform, is vulnerable due to issues in its Cluster Distributed API (DAPI) handling. Before version 4.14.5, an authenticated cluster peer could exploit the platform's deserialization process to execute attacker-controlled callables, leading to unauthorized privileged actions on the master node. This vulnerability allows file manipulation, user creation, and modifications to critical configurations. It arises from the improper handling of JSON deserialization, combined with the misuse of global RBAC contexts, resulting in a potential complete compromise of the Wazuh manager.
Affected Version(s)
wazuh >= 4.0.0, < 4.14.5
