What is CVE-2026-28291?

The simple-git library allows the execution of arbitrary commands due to a flaw in option handling. Versions up to and including 3.31.1 are susceptible to manipulation that bypasses safety checks designed to prevent dangerous commands. The vulnerability stems from an incomplete fix related to a prior issue. Attackers can exploit this by using various character combinations to circumvent a blocklist, granting them the ability to execute harmful commands via Git operations.
