What is CVE-2026-29780?

The eml_parser Python module, used for parsing email files, contains a path traversal vulnerability in the example script 'examples/recursively_extract_attachments.py'. This allows an attacker to exploit the module by providing maliciously crafted filenames that lead to arbitrary file writing outside of the designated output directory. The vulnerability arises because attachment filenames from the parsed emails are drawn directly into output file paths without sanitization, enabling an attacker to manipulate the file structure. This issue has been corrected in version 2.0.1, emphasizing the importance of updating to mitigate potential risks.
