What is CVE-2026-31866?

The flagd feature flag daemon prior to version 0.14.2 contains a vulnerability that allows for memory exhaustion due to the unrestricted size of request payloads sent to its publicly accessible evaluation endpoints. This oversight enables an attacker to craft a malicious HTTP request with a large body, leading to a significant allocation of memory and potentially resulting in the termination of the flagd process. While it is recommended to deploy flagd behind an authenticating reverse proxy to mitigate risks, the default lack of access control on these endpoints poses a serious security threat. The issue has been addressed in version 0.14.2.

Affected Version(s)

flagd < 0.14.2
