What is CVE-2026-33282?

Ella Core, designed for private 5G networks, is susceptible to service disruption when processing malformed NGAP LocationReport messages. If versions prior to 1.6.0 receive a message with the ue-presence-in-area-of-interest event type while omitting the optional UEPresenceInAreaOfInterestList information element (IE), it can trigger a panic, resulting in a crash of the process. This vulnerability allows an attacker to disrupt services for all connected subscribers by sending crafted NGAP messages without requiring authentication. Version 1.6.0 rectifies this issue by implementing IE presence verification during NGAP message handling.
